Out of Concealment: Female Supernatural Beings of Haida Gwaii Launch

A new book profiling female supernatural beings from Haida origin stories will be featured at this special event in Vancouver. The book, Out of Concealment: Female Supernatural Beings of Haida Gwaii, forms part of a multi-media installation by Haida activist and performing artist Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson. The installation includes the book; a CD and live performances of contemporary Haida songs; and an exhibition of photomontages, currently on display at the Haida Gwaii Museum until December 31.
The book includes forewords by Wade Davis and Haida Elder GwaaGanad, Diane Brown.
Born on Haida Gwaii, Gid7ahl-Gudsllaay Lalaxaaygans Terri-Lynn Williams-Davidson is an award-winning recording artist and an accomplished lawyer who has represented the Haida Nation in the area of Aboriginal-environmental law for the last 22 years. Her music has been recognized with multiple Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards, including Best Female Artist for her 2011 album New Journeys. In 2014 she received the West Coast Environmental Law Andrew Thompson People’s Choice Award for Environmental Advocacy.
