Views of the Salish Sea by Howard Stewart | Campbell River

February 24 | 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

$7

Howard Macdonald Stewart presents on his new book, Views of the Salish Sea, at the Museum at Campbell River, on Saturday, February 24, from 1:00-2:30pm.

Views of the Salish Sea: One Hundred and Fifty Years of Change around the Strait of Georgia (Harbour Publishing) interweaves geography, biology and resource economics with history, this is a deft examination of the Strait of Georgia from the 1850s to the modern era. While many books have been written about the Strait of Georgia and the North Salish Sea, few can compare to the comprehensive and detailed study found in Views of the Salish Sea. These bodies of water have been instrumental in human history, and continue to provide life and culture to our province and country.  Come and be enamoured with the history, biology, and economics of a resource we can’t afford to lose.

Howard Macdonald Stewart was born and raised on the shores of the North Salish Sea and has worked for the United Nations, local and national governments, international agencies, communities, NGOs and industries around the world. This book grew out of his PhD thesis in geography at the University of British Columbia. He has also contributed to numerous periodicals, and professional and academic publications. He lives on Denman Island, BC.

Admission to the talk is $7, which is separate from museum admission.
