The Writers’ Studio Reading Series

September 7 | 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM

The Writer’s Studio, hosts a popular monthly reading series featuring local and out-of-town writers and authors. These mixed-genre readings are open to the public.

TWS Reading Series is back from our summer break! Please come join us for a great night of readings by local writers. Come early, have dinner and enjoy! Chelene Knight is coming back as our bookseller and Esmeralda will join Rena as guest co-host.

MONICA MENEGHETTI’S memoir What the Mouth Wants (Caitlin Press) is excerpted in the upcoming anthologies Absent Mothers (Demeter Press) and Sustenance (Anvil Press). Her translation The Call of the Ice (Mountaineers Books) was a 2015 Banff Mountain Book Competition finalist.

PATRIK SAMPLER’S work has appeared in The Guardian, Marco Polo, and other publications. He is a member of PEN Canada and contributing editor for the surrealist journal Peculiar Mormyrid. His 2017 novel, The Ocean Container, was published in the US by Ninebark Press.

KIRSTEN PENDREIGH is an aspiring poet and children’s author. One of her poems will be in the forthcoming Sustenance anthology, edited by Rachel Rose. Kirsten was long-listed this year in The New Quarterly’s Occasional Verse Contest.

CLARA CRISTOFARO, who completed TWS in 2016, is a cheerful bureaucrat who gets a lot of her writing done on public transit. Clara’s story “The Mending” won first prize in the 2017 RCLAS Write On! competition. Her non-fiction is published in event16 and SAD Magazine.

A.J. DEVLIN earned a BFA in Screenwriting from Chapman University and a MFA in Screenwriting from The American Film Institute in South California. After working as a screenwriter in Hollywood, he moved back home to Port Moody where he now lives.

JANO KLIMAS is an Alumnus of TWS and has published poems in the Write Around Portland Broadsides, Thursdays Writing Collective’s Voice to Voice, the University Affairs, Medical Post, Forum and Irish Psychologist.

LISA DOUCETTE has shared her unflinchingly honest stories at Vancouver Story Slam (2017) and at The Writer’s Adventure Camp in Whistler (2017), where she won an award for “making the most audience members pee their pants.”

DIANA JOY is a 2014 TWS graduate and 2015 Southbank graduate. Her work has been published in three anthologies, and in her first chapbook “From the Wet Coast, With Love”. She is winner of the 2017 Poet’s Pause Togetherness Competition and former co-host of TWS Reading Series.
