The Writer’s Studio Reading Series featuring Kagan Goh

The Writer’s Studio’s last reading of the 2017 series features Kagan Goh and a great lineup of local writers reading original work from fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

Come early, drink and raise a glass with friends. Always a fun evening. This event is by donation, supported by scholarships & The Writer’s Studio program.

KENDALL ANNE DIXON is a gifted storyteller who uses moving life experiences to entertain, delight and ultimately make sense of her serendipitous life. Her stories have been heard at The Writing Studio, The Flame and Vancouver Story Slam in addition to being aired on CBC radio and MetroTV.

ROMNEY GRANT attended The Writers Studio in 2013 and studied fiction under Timothy Taylor. The novel that resulted is currently making the rounds. Romney was recently
awarded First Prize for her short story “Nonetheless” in the BC Federation of Writers summer contest.

ISABELLA WANG is in her last year of high school and takes pleasure in attending local poetry readings and poetry workshops at SFU. She has competed in several writing competitions, and was the youngest writer to place as a finalist in the New Quarterly’s Edna Staebler Essay Contest.

GRANT LAWRENCE is the author of Adventures In Solitude and The Lonely End of the Rink. Both won the Bill Duthie Booksellers’ Choice Award at the BC Book Prizes. His third book, Dirty Windshields, was published by Douglas & McIntyre in May 2017.

JL LORI holds an MFA from UBC. She was the circulation editor for PRISM international and was a co-host of Locution, UBC’s MFA reading series. Her work can be seen in The Tyee, Rebel
Mountain Press, and Prairie Fire.

WINSTON LE is a Vietnamese-Canadian poet who recently completed the Creative Writing Program at Kwantlen. He coordinates literary readings and book launches as the Outreach and Publicity Intern for Pulp Literature and as the Literary Events Coordinator for Ricepaper Magazine.

JANET FRETTER (TWS 2013) is a writer, editor (SFU Editing 2017), and a lover of great sentences. She writes fiction and narrative non-fiction. Janet recently stepped down as managing
editor of emerge, the TWS annual anthology. She looks forward to time to write, with a side order of freelance editing.

KAGAN GOH is an award-winning filmmaker, spoken word poet and mental health activist. He has been published in numerous anthologies, periodicals and magazines. In 2012, Select Books published his first book Who Let In the Sky? He will be reading from a manuscript entitled Surviving Samsara that recounts his struggles with manic depression.
