On April 10, 2018, the Griffin Trust For Excellence In Poetry announced the shortlisted books—four international and three Canadian—for this year’s prize.

We were thrilled to hear that Donato Mancini‘s poetry collection, Same Diff (Talonbooks), is a Canadian finalist for the 2018 Griffin Poetry Prize! The nomination is especially exciting because last year another Talonbooks poet, Jordan Abel, won the Griffin prize for Injun.

The other two Canadian nominees are Billy-Ray Belcourt, author of This Wound is a World (Frontenac House), and Aisha Sasha John, author of I have to live (McClelland & Stewart). The finalists will each be awarded $10,000 and the two winners (one Canadian, one international) will each be awarded $65,000.

The seven shortlisted authors will read at an event in Toronto on June 6, prior to the award announcement on June 7.
