Introducing the Read Local BC eBookshelf: A Collection of BC-Published eBooks

The Association of Book Publishers of British Columbia (Books BC), in partnership with the BC Libraries Cooperative, is excited to announce the launch of the Read Local BC eBookshelf, an innovative collection showcasing the best of BC-published ebooks. With hundreds of titles already available, this curated selection gives 5.5 million BC library patrons seamless access to books about BC, set in BC, or written by BC authors—all from the convenience of the Libby app.

For the first time, BC library users can explore an expertly curated list of local books, including:

  • award-winning fiction
  • travel guides
  • children’s and YA books
  • nature writing
  • non-fiction
  • and more!

Quick facts about the Read Local BC eBookshelf

  • Patrons can now browse hundreds of ebooks within the Read Local BC guide. Titles will be added regularly across a range of genres. Find an example of the collection here.
  • Currently features 682 titles from 17 BC publishers – With more being added!
  • Available via the Libby appGetting Started with Libby
  • Participating BC Libraries – All 71 of BC’s public libraries are part of this initiative.

Launch Event

To mark the launch, Books BC and the BC Libraries Cooperative will host a reading event featuring BC authors Candie Tanaka and Wayde Compton at Burnaby Public Library, McGill Branch on Thursday, June 19, from 11 am to noon (doors open at 10:30 am).
