Four BC books on Governor General’s Literary Awards 2018 shortlist

On Wednesday, October 3, 2018, the Canada Council for the Arts revealed the 2018 finalists for the Governor General’s Literary Awards. The 70 Canadian books—in both official languages‚—are among the best published this year in seven categories. The titles were selected by peer assessment committees from close to 1,400 titles submitted for consideration.

We’re thrilled to see three BC publishers on the list with four titles:

  • Jonny Appleseed by Joshua Whitehead (Arsenal Pulp Press) — Fiction
  • Wayside Sang by Cecily Nicholson (Talonbooks) — Poetry
  • Dead Reckoning: How I Came to Meet the Man Who Murdered My Father by Carys Cragg (Arsenal Pulp Press) — Nonfiction
  • Mamaskatch: A Cree Coming of Age by Darrel J. McLeod (Douglas & McIntyre) — Nonfiction
